During the 1920 Federal census, it is recorded that Wade Cooper was living with his half-brother Dewey M. Morrell and Dewey's mother, Caroline Chestnut Morrell. Wade had not changed his name to Morrell at that time. It is also recorded that Wade was 16 years old, attending school and that he worked as a wood chopper at a local sawmill.
