Clara and Dan always kept their home immaculately clean and
orderly. Any time you entered their home there was the smell of fresh baked bread, cookies or the
sweet smell of fresh fruit. It was heavenly. Their lawn and garden was also well manicured. Clara
had a green thumb like her mother, Mary, and didn't have the run of the mill shrubs and plants
but unusual exotic plants that where from all over the world. Clara's artistic talent and gift
with plants came from her mother's side of the family. The Matthews clan had many artist of
various types. Clara and her younger brother, Marshall, were very talented artist. Like her brother,
she painted in oils on canvas and created many beautiful paintings of various subjects. Her children
also inherited the artistic talents.
