Very little is known about John, at this time, other than the fact that, like most people of his day, he was a farmer. We can speculate that he married Martha sometime around 1861 because his first child, William Milford Morrell, was born in 1862.
William and Martha had seven children between 1862 and 1877: William Milford, Aaron, Ellen, Nancy Ann, Joseph Hughell, Morris Wiley and Martha Jane Morrell.
