Mary was born at her family home in Marion Station, Maryland. Marion Station is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Mary was the fourth and last child / only daughter of John and Marian Horsey. Her three brothers were: John Coleman Horsey, Jr., Aden Davis Horsey and Robert Doremus Horsey.
Her family has lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland since 1645.

Mary and Marshall were married July 15, 1948 in Pensacola, Florida.

Mary died of cancer of the pancreous while in the Naval Air Station Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida on Jun 19, 1972. She was cremated and her ashes were buried in her family's plot next to her mother and father at St. Pauls Episcopal Church cemetery in Marion Station, Maryland.
