1840 - Jeff was born in (Coffee County) Alabama in 1840 according to the 1850
Covington County, Alabama Federal census. It also states that he had an older sister Effa born in 1839 and two
younger brothers: Hozea Adams born in 1842 and Bryan Adams born in 1849.
1880 - In the Santa Rosa County Federal census it indicates that Jeff's father's second wife,
Elmira Y. Gallagher had more children there names were: William Kadge Adams born on February 27, 1855,
Alexander born on April 10, 1856, Andrew Jackson Adams born on December 24, 1861, Jasper C. born in 1865,
David F. Adams born in 1868, Lillie Adams born on March 26, 1870, George W. Adams born in 1872 and
Nancy Adams born on May 5, 1875.
In the Santa Rosa County Federal census for Precinct #9, page 25, taken on July 7th 1880 it shows
Joel Jefferson Adams age 30, born in Alabama was a laborer. His wife's name was Elizabeth Darby,
age 31, was also born in Alabama and was keeping house. His children were listed as: William Adams
age 15, born in Florida was a laborer, Eli Adams, age 10, born in Alabama was a laborer, Jasper Adams,
age 7, was born in Florida, Effa Adams, age 5 was born in Florida and Sarah Adams, age 3, was born in Florida.
The census ages for Jeff and Elizabeth were apparently wrong, during this census recording.
Little is known, at this time, about Jeff other than the fact that he was a farmer and a laborer.
1928 - Jeff passed away in Milton, Florida on May 12, 1928.
