Biography

Known by his family and friends as Robin, he came into the world late one stormy night in September.  He is the eldest son of Marshall Fisher Cooper (September 17, 1912-June 29, 1957) and Mary Emily Frances Cooper (July 10, 1908-June 19, 1972).  Marshall Fisher Cooper was the eldest son of Charles Robinson Cooper (1880-1945) and Mary Ann Matthews (1887-1964).  Charles Robinson Cooper was the eldest son of James Fountain Cooper (1861-1932) and Lucyann Missouri Levins (1861-1937).  Robin and his sister Marsha (28 February, 1952), called Missy or Sister, and her twin Miles, called by immediate family Brother, were raised in Green Cove Springs, Florida.

Robin's father was from west Florida and his mother from Marion Station on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Marshall was a Navy man and Mary was a teacher and Red Cross volunteer during the war.  They met in Washington, D. C. The Navy brought Marshall and wife Mary to Green Cove Springs.  Marshall retired from the Navy and became a cabinetmaker.  He died in 1957, leaving his wife to raise a 6 year old and two 5 year olds.

Robin attended school in Green Cove Springs, except for eighth grade in which he attended an Episcopal boarding school in Pennsylvania.  After graduation he thought he wanted to be a music major and spent several years in this field of study.  It wasn't meant to be.

Robin married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Elaine Monaghan in 1972.  They were married in St. Mary's Church in Green Cove Springs after she graduated from the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans. They then moved to Orlando so he could pursue his new field of study in Respiratory Care.  He received a degree in Respiratory Care from Valencia Community College in 1975, and has worked in Jacksonville since graduation.  Robin is nationally certified and registered in the field of Respiratory Care.

Robin has worked with premature infant, cystic fibrosis children and with pediatric and adult critical care patients.

Robin and Joyce have two children. Their daughter Mary Caraline (Cari) was born January 21, 1976, and lives in Jacksonville.  Their son Marshall Stephen was born September 26, 1978 and lives outside of Atlanta.

Robin and Joyce enjoy vacationing and their favorite place on earth is Sanibel Island.  The Cooper family has been going to the island since the early 60s. They also enjoy antiquing and shopping estate sales. Robin collects antique Christian items.

Robin is quite active in his parish, the Church of the Nativity in Jacksonville, Florida.  Nativity is an Anglo-Catholic parish of the Diocese of Florida. He is the secretary of the Mother of God of the Sign Ward of the Society of Mary and custodian of the treasured Marian Mass vestments. Robin is also a Cursillista having experienced Cursillo de Cristiandad
